Flyer for Stoneydown Park Jazz Picnic

Hello hello hello. You may have noticed that we’ve been a little quiet on the blogging front recently. Well, now the sun is out, and what better way to return to the fray than with details of a Jazz Picnic this Sunday.

The Jazz Picnic is the third such event that E17 Jazz have put on, and it’s being held in Stoneydown Park (near Blackhorse Road) on Sunday 7 August from 1pm-5pm. There will be music, beer, food and family fun.

If you went to the William Morris Folk Fest in the same park a few weeks ago, you’ll know what to expect. That was a scorching day with good entertainment and a marvellous community atmosphere. Music-wise, the press blurb for this promises swinging jazz and summer grooves (well, you weren’t expecting hardcore techno, were you?), there will be plenty of Pimms as well as a beer tent, and some BBQ food. Alternatively you can just pack up your own spread and bring a picnic blanket.

There’s plenty for kids to do as well, with a bouncy castle, a tug-o-war, a hula hoop workshop (we’re hoping that this will teach us how to make bootleg hula hoop crisps, but maybe we’re wide of the mark on that one), and more, no doubt.

So sunshine, music, food, Pimms, kids activity, it’s on your doorstep, and it’s free – literally, what more could you ask for?
