Acclaimed stand-up comic and TV regular Jo Caulfield headlines the Guffaw Comedy Club at the Rose & Crown on Thursday 6 October. Support comes from Jacques Barrett, and the night is MC’d by E17′s own Susan Murray.

Jo Caulfield is best known for her one-woman shows, and has recently been nominated as “the best female stand-up in the UK” by Chortle.co.uk. She is Graham Norton’s head writer, and the Observer called her “one of the finest female comics at work”. Jo has also appeared on Mock the Week, Have I Got News For You, Never Mind the Buzzcocks, and a host of other televisual delights.

Jacques Barrett is an Australian comic who has been performing for over eight years. He can apparently “bend to fit absolutely any audience”, but Time Out did call him “pretty damn impressive”. As usual at the Guffaw Comedy Club, MC-ing for the night is expertly handled by Susan Murray. Fresh from her performances at the Edinburgh Festival, Susan regularly holds the Guffaw nights together with humour and aplomb. My favourite quote about her show from the press release comes from Fest Magazine, who said she was a ”perky, punchy comic..compulsive listening, with a freakish visual twist”.

The show is on Thursday 6 October at the Rose & Crown on Hoe Street. Doors open at 8.30pm, show starts at 9pm. Tickets are £7.50, available on the door. More information is on the Rose & Crown website.
