Steve White & The Protest Family will be playing a free gig in Leyton on Saturday 15 October as part of an anti-racism campaign.

Alright, it’s not technically in Walthamstow, but they are local chaps, and they played a great show as part of The Stow Festival, so we’re overlooking the fact that it’s not technically in E17! The gig features performances from Steve White & The Protest Family, and Corporal Machine & The Bombers. It follows the Leyton Orient game against Bury, which kicks off at 3pm.

The gig starts at 7.30pm and is free to get into. It is at The Birkbeck Tavern, 45 Langthorne Road, E11 4HL, behind Leyton tube station. You can find out more at the Facebook event page here.

  • Corporal Machine & The Bombers (from the wild borderlands of London/Essex) wowed the Waltham Forest Social Club (by the Town Hall) at the beer festival in March. This is a heavyweight bout with Walthamstow’s living legend Graham Larkbey as referee (and he’ll do a few songs too).
